Following Ven. Master Kuan Ru’s successful hosting of the 21st WBSY Annual General Conference in Chiba, Japan, in November 2025, this meeting further deepened their propagation footprint. The two parties engaged in profound dialogue on core issues such as the developmental direction of world Buddhism, international Sangha exchanges, and the cultivation of young Sangha talents, demonstrating a solid foundation for the international Sangha to advance hand in hand.

During the meeting, they focused on discussing the 22nd WBSY Annual General Conference, which will be held in Italy. Ven. Master Kuan Ru’s global propagation promotes the comprehensive development of world Buddhism, creating a new milestone by deeply planting the seeds of the Dharma across different cultures internationally. Facing the wave of the digital age, both sides thoroughly explored the promotion and progress of current AI technology alongside Dharma propagation. Ven. Master Kuan Ru outlined a blueprint for technological propagation with a forward-looking vision, guiding the gradual formation of a smart propagation model and opening a clearer, more profound direction for future development.

Ven. Anuruddha stated that Ven. Master Kuan Ru has been re-elected as the President of the WBSY, entering her 14th year. Her promotion of the Dharma globally with grand compassionate vows, equipped with outstanding leadership and vision, and her efforts in driving the development of world Buddhism and promoting peace command deep respect.

Subsequently, the delegation proceeded to the Buddha Relic Shrine to pay their respects. The shrine was solemn, and the attending Sangha members were filled with Dharma joy, collectively praying: “May the True Dharma endure, may the world be at peace, and may all sentient beings be happy.” During this gathering, Ven. Anuruddha once again thanked Ven. Master Kuan Ru for everything she has done for Buddhism and Sri Lanka. This not only recounted the karmic affinities of their propagation over the years and revived the profound Dharma friendship between the Theravada and Mahayana (Chinese) Sanghas, but also further demonstrated the important position of the WBSY in the international Buddhist community.

Ven. Master Kuan Ru’s long-term global propagation has been highly affirmed by Theravada Buddhism. In 2016, the President of Sri Lanka personally awarded her the “Noble Bodhi Award,” commending her outstanding contributions to propagating the Dharma, teaching sentient beings, and encouraging the Bodhi mind globally and within Sri Lanka. In 2017, she served as the Asia-Pacific Chairman of the UN Chinese Federation’s International Youth Education Council and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Supreme Philosophy by the Ramanna Nikaya of Sri Lanka, becoming the first senior Bhikkhuni in Sri Lankan Buddhist history—and internationally—to receive this honor. In the same year, she received the 48th-generation Dharma lineage of the Linji Orthodox Sect, solidifying her important position in the international Buddhist community.

During the pandemic in 2021, Ven. Master Kuan Ru initiated international rescue efforts, rushing aid to severely affected areas across multiple countries and regions, including China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Canada, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka. She also assisted hundreds of temples and schools in Sri Lanka in replenishing urgently needed supplies and food, widely practicing compassionate relief. In 2022, she was invited to attend a World Peace Conference in Sweden and was honored with the “Sweden World Peace Award.” In 2023, Sri Lanka issued national commemorative stamps featuring Ven. Master Kuan Ru’s portrait, strongly highlighting her influence in international propagation and her significant historical position in Sri Lanka.
