After more than a month of Dharma propagation throughout Southeast Asia, Venerable Master Kuan Ru, President of the World Buddhist Sangha Youth Council (WBSY), Abbot of Gondesan Temple in Taiwan, the 48th Great Master of Linji School of Chan Buddhism, and the Main Instructor of Gondesan Branches throughout the world, recently concluded this extensive Dharma tour with the successful completion of the Singapore Vesak Buddha Bathing Grand Dharma Assembly. Spanning East Malaysia, West Malaysia, and Singapore, the journey included numerous large-scale Buddhist events that drew thousands of devotees and generated widespread attention and enthusiastic response within the Chinese communities of Southeast Asia.
Having devoted many years to international Dharma propagation, Venerable Master Kuan Ru once again led a series of major cross-regional Buddhist events throughout Malaysia and Singapore. The remarkable success of these activities not only reflects the flourishing of contemporary Buddhism but also demonstrates the profound Dharma connections and educational impact that the Master has cultivated across Malaysia and Southeast Asia over more than a decade. Her influence and contributions to Buddhist education and spiritual development have become increasingly significant on the international stage.
Beginning in Bintulu, Sarawak, and continuing through Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and finally Singapore, Venerable Master Kuan Ru maintained a demanding schedule of Dharma activities. Invited by organizations and communities across the region, she tirelessly conducted a wide range of events despite the intensive travel and logistical challenges involved.
The tour included Vesak Buddha Bathing Grand Dharma Assembly, Smoke Offering Grand Dharma Assembly, Five Precepts Grand Dharma Assembly, the “Great Compassion Mantra Water Blessing” (Sprinkling Across Three Thousand Realms), youth education programs, Dharma lectures, and various Buddhist outreach activities. These events attracted large numbers of devotees, community leaders, and members of the Chinese diaspora from around the world.
The events also received strong support from distinguished Malaysian leaders, including YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and Member of Parliament for Bintulu; YB Datuk Amar Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Sarawak; and YB Ling Tian Soon, Member of the Johor State Executive Council. These dignitaries publicly praised Venerable Master Kuan Ru for her longstanding dedication to spreading the Buddhadharma globally and benefiting countless beings. They expressed gratitude for the stability, hope, and positive spiritual influence her teachings continue to bring to Malaysian society.
Their support reflects the broad recognition that Venerable Master Kuan Ru has earned through her efforts to promote authentic Buddhist teachings, compassionate education, and the purification of hearts and minds throughout the international community. One of the major highlights of the tour was the Johor Bahru Five Precepts Grand Dharma Assembly, personally presided over by Venerable Master Kuan Ru. Nearly 2,000 devotees from Malaysia and abroad gathered to formally undertake and uphold the Five Precepts, creating a solemn and inspiring occasion.
YB Ling Tian Soon also spoke highly of the “Sprinkling Across Three Thousand Realms” Great Compassion Mantra Water Blessing Ceremony held at Forest City Beach, noting that the event embodied profound compassion and aspiration. He remarked that the ceremony symbolized extending the purity and blessings of the Buddhadharma in all directions and expressed confidence that the blessings and spiritual power of the Great Compassion Mantra would bring greater harmony, hope, and positivity to society.

Mr. Ng Kit Chye, President of the Singapore Nanyang Puning Association, likewise praised the Master’s decades of Dharma work, stating:
“Wherever Venerable Master Kuan Ru teaches, hearts are transformed and lives are renewed. Countless families have found new direction and strength through her guidance. Buddhism is no longer viewed merely as a traditional religious culture; it is increasingly becoming an important source of wisdom and support for professionals, younger generations, and business leaders seeking deeper meaning in life.”
Many devotees from Singapore and Malaysia also noted that, at a time when international Dharma propagation faces growing challenges, it is rare to see a Buddhist leader continuously traveling across East Malaysia, West Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and many other regions of the world to promote the Buddhadharma while simultaneously advancing youth education, international Buddhist exchange, and large-scale Dharma activities.
Over the years, Venerable Master Kuan Ru has steadily cultivated Buddhist communities, trained Dharma propagators, and strengthened connections among Chinese communities across different countries and regions. Her efforts have established a strong foundation for Buddhist development and international exchange throughout Southeast Asia and beyond. Her journey represents not only the accomplishments of an individual Buddhist teacher but also the broader movement of contemporary Buddhism toward deeper international engagement and development.

According to the International Affairs Department of Gondesan Temple, following the successful completion of this Singapore–Malaysia Dharma tour, Venerable Master Kuan Ru will travel to Europe next month to begin a new stage of international Dharma propagation. In addition to conducting a Great Compassion Bodhi Dharma Assembly, she will also preside over the 22nd Annual Conference of the World Buddhist Sangha Youth Council (WBSY) and several major international events later this year. Further Dharma activities are planned in Oceania in November.
From Southeast Asia to Europe and onward to Oceania, these continuing international Dharma endeavors demonstrate both the enduring influence of Buddhism within the global Chinese community and the growing need for spiritual wisdom and inner development in modern society. Through the continued propagation of authentic Buddhist teachings and the promotion of Bodhicitta education, Venerable Master Kuan Ru hopes to bring greater peace, stability, and light to the world.
