The **”2026 International Buddha’s Birthday Cultural Festival”**May 2nd continuing in grand fashion at the Yuanshan Expo Garden of Hope Hall in Taipei. Combining the Dharma, art, and everyday life, the event drew large crowds of visitors. Among the highlights, the ***”Flowers Bloom, the Buddha Appears — Flower of Life Thousand-Person Collaborative Art Creation,”*** initiated by the event’s presiding chairman Most Venerable Dahuei — President of the Taichung City Buddhist Association, Chairman of One Buddha One World, and Abbot of Guangxiu Chan Monastery — emerged as one of the most captivating cultural centerpieces of the entire festival, drawing a continuous stream of visitors to the exhibition.
The “Flower of Life” collaborative project launched earlier this year and unfolded over nearly one hundred creative sessions and exchange gatherings, connecting communities across Taiwan and extending overseas to Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore, the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia, and beyond. One thousand works were ultimately assembled and displayed as a large-scale exhibition wall on-site. Presented together, the thousand pieces command a powerful and sweeping visual presence — not only as a stunning artistic spectacle, but as a symbol of the convergence and flowing of a thousand individual vows and aspirations, making it the most emblematic spiritual expression of the entire festival.
Each work is centered on the geometric mandala of the **”Flower of Life”** — a form that is simple yet rich in meaning, guiding participants into a state of focused attention and inner stillness. Led by Sandy, founder of the Flower of Life Art Research Academy, participants ranged in age from children as young as two to elders of ninety-six, spanning beginners and experienced artists alike. Every line drawn was both a process of dialogue with the self and a tangible expression of one’s vow.
Most Venerable Dahuei remarked: “When a person quiets the mind and draws the Flower of Life stroke by stroke, they are in fact putting their own heart in order.” He observed that the Dharma is never separate from daily life, and that art provides an accessible gateway for people to return to the present moment and find peace in body and mind. This Flower of Life creation is not only an artistic presentation, but a method of practice entered through the door of art.
The organizers noted that this is more than an artistic endeavor — it is a collective practice that transcends geography and generation. When focused attention and the power of vow converge, what emerges is not only a visual impact, but a profound sense of connection and unity.
A **”Flower of Life Experience Zone”** was set up on-site, open for visitors to participate directly. Many found that as they created, their minds gradually settled, and they came to experience a sense of calm and clarity.

In addition to the cultural exhibition zone, the day also featured Buddha Bathing and Blessing ceremonies, the Thousand Bowl Offering to the Buddha, and the Mañjuśrī Empowerment and Blessing. The **Mañjuśrī Empowerment** was jointly presided over by an assembly of international masters from all Three Traditions: the event’s presiding chairman Most Venerable Dahuei; Bhutanese Tulku Kunga Tenzin Rinpoche; Sri Lankan Buddhist Elder Venerable Anuruddha; and Khenpo Tsewang Rinzin, Chairman of the Tibetan Buddhism Research Association.
Eminent practitioners from the Mahayana, Vajrayana, and Theravada traditions gathered together, each bearing Dharma instruments, and proceeded to individually confer blessings and prayers upon the assembled faithful. The scene was one of solemn grandeur and deep, settled spiritual presence — an international Dharma assembly of extraordinary rarity and exceptional merit.
The organizers observed that a large-scale empowerment ceremony of this kind — spanning all Three Traditions and bringing together eminent masters from multiple nations — is genuinely rare in Taiwan. It not only embodies the spirit of Buddhism’s boundless and harmonious integration, but also manifests an inconceivable power of blessing and spiritual virtue. The energy on-site was profound and deep, leaving attendees in a state of bodily and mental stillness.
Many visitors shared that during the moment of empowerment their minds became luminously clear and settled, and that they had offered prayers for wisdom to open and for favorable conditions to unfold in their studies, careers, and life direction. The organizers noted that Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva is the embodiment of wisdom and awareness. This collective empowerment conferred by international masters of the highest standing is not merely a ritual — it is an auspicious and extraordinary occasion to guide the public inward, and to open the door of wisdom.
